By drinking oolong tea, you will not only strengthen your brain cells but also your sleep patterns. This is a win, win since other Alzheimer’s disease research show that a good night’s sleep can reduce the accumulation of beta-amyloid protein plaque in the brain, one of the hallmarks Alzheimer’s disease.

The way this works is that as you sleep, your brain goes through a ‘slow-wave’ process. During this time, you move into a deep sleep, and several ‘housekeeping’ activities take place. One of the most important being the sweeping out of amyloid proteins. These proteins are a type of waste that naturally build in your brain throughout the day and are flushed out during deep sleep. diagram of amyloid plaque formation as it relates to alzheimer's disease                                                                                                                           A problem occurs when sleep doesn’t happen or is interrupted during the night. By sipping oolong before you go to bed, you can soothe yourself into a deep sleep that will clear out the proteins, promoting Alzheimer’s disease prevention.
